Bowler returns to its racing roots, supporting the Welsh Hill Rally

22 Mar 2018

Bowler is delighted to be returning to its racing roots this summer, as a sponsor of the Welsh Hill Rally from 6-8 July and offering a 'Spirit of Bowler' prize, as well as participating in the three days of racing with the Bowler Bulldog.

The Bowler Bulldog, available in race and road versions

As the UK pioneers of Rally Raid cars for legendary extreme off road races such as the Dakar, off-road 4x4 racing is in Bowler's DNA and has been for over 30 years. As a market leader of innovative design, engineering and production of class-leading custom vehicles and automotive solutions for road, race and all-terrain specialist applications, Bowler's proven motorsport expertise is integrated into the company's wider specialist vehicle and automotive engineering R&D, with Bowler vehicles tested to extremes in some of the world's toughest environments and situations.

The Welsh Hill Rally, being held at the spectacular 4000 acre Walters Arena in South Wales which offers excellent facilities for competitors and spectators alike, will see Bowler showcase its latest vehicles. These exciting National Hill Rally events are where company founder Drew Bowler started his winning racing career in the 80s in an own-build 4x4, broadly based on a Land Rover. His car attracted the attention, admiration and envy of other competitors who then wanted a Bowler themselves. And so the Bowler story began, with models including the Tomcat, followed by the Wildcat, Nemesis, EXR and the latest Bulldog - the next generation Bowler vehicle based on the company's patented Cross Sector Platform (CSP).

The Cross Sector Platform (CSP), developed in a three-year project backed by the UK Government, offers a revolutionary multi-use rolling chassis platform which can be utilised for a range of vehicle applications including on and off road, emergency response, security and protection, sport and recreation, land and estates management, humanitarian, filming, utility, exploration and more.

A 'Spirit of Bowler' prize of £250 to claim against Bowler exclusive parts, accessories or services is also available to win, for Welsh Hill Rally entrants competing in a current or past Bowler vehicle, or Land Rover Defender. The winner will be the entrant who most displays and encompasses the Bowler spirit, including supporting fellow competitors, showing resilience and adaptiveness to any situation and conditions and gives their all, over the duration of the event.

Bowler also looks forward to welcoming visitors to its display stand within the arena, to see and experience its acclaimed Defender conversions, modifications and accessories, Bowler Bulldog race and road cars, and possibly even a glimpse of the CSP Concept Vehicle.
