DIT looks ahead to the start of free trade negotiations

09 Oct 2018

As the Department for International Trade looks ahead to the start of free trade agreement negotiations, UK businesses and industry are invited to work with the Government to help inform the approach.

The DIT is currently consulting on 4 important opportunities - future free trade agreement negotiations with the United States, Australia and New Zealand, and also potentially seeking accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

To inform its policy position and future engagement with these partner countries, it is asking for views on which matters the Government should take into account when deciding how to approach these negotiations. With the potential for UK exporters and investors to expand their business into these overseas markets, the DIT is keen to hear from MIA members.

October 26th - the online consultation portal closes

The DIT has asked us to encourage all UK-based MIA members to express your views on the 4 opportunities, if you have not already done so. This is an exciting chance to help shape the future of trade for the UK.
