MIA Career events
Since March 2016, the MIA has been hosting two "Motorsport & Automotive Jobs Fairs" a year, linking employers with over 2,500 job seekers interested in working in these attractive industries.
The MIA & Motorsport Education
The MIA helped to create the world’s first degree course in Motorsport Engineering & Design in 1998, delivered by Swansea Institute UK. In response to the resounding success of this degree programme, other higher education institutions followed in Swansea’s wake and introduced motorsport courses of their own, both at Degree level (Engineers) and Further Education level (Technicians).
The MIA now counts several Universities among its membership, and all would be happy to speak to prospective students about their motorsport courses:
The MIA also does its best to offer career advice and support - click here.
The MIA established, and now organises, the Motorsport Educators Forum (MEF), the International Motorsport Education Forum (IMEF) and the Motorsport Employers Group (MEG). These groups maintain dialogue between Universities/Colleges and the Industry itself – thereby ensuring that education courses remain focused and relevant to the career paths that students will eventually follow. Motorsport technology is fast moving and the pace can be challenging for the education process - but with industry engagement the needs of both parties can be met.
The MIA has conducted two industry based Workforce Development studies and published plans in 2003 and 2007 which proposed the way forward. The Industry has shown itself to be a willing partner in the persual of this development strategy, and has actively sought to be engaged ever more closely in its progress.
The MIA retains links with its original concept, such programmes include:
