Jobs Fair success – MIA welcomes two new members to the team

08 Aug 2018

Our Jobs Fairs have certainly worked for our recruitment programme! We thought we would introduce you to Elinor and Charlotte who have come to us as a direct result of attending our Fairs.

Elinor Morris
Elinor is our intern for the summer and is two-thirds of her way through a marketing degree at Lancaster University. Studying various modules including entrepreneurship, market research, routes to market and digital marketing with the focus on B2C (B2B being her final year's focus). Her ultimate aim to find a marketing career within motorsport.

She has been attending our Jobs Fairs since 2016, particularly impressed by their accessibility as she explains:

"The first one was great. The Fairs attract big names but at the same time, I wasn't daunted by that. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. I know it's competitive out there but you have to persevere and these Fairs give you the opportunity to push your CV out and make direct contact - that in itself can be challenging."

Her hard work has paid off. Last year she was offered a 3 week internship with Renault F1 within the marketing function and we're delighted to welcome her to our team for a 9 week placement.

Her initial thoughts of the MIA?

"What impresses me is the networking opportunity, not just for myself personally but between members. You can't fail to notice the community spirit at events."

Charlotte Davies
Charlotte attended her first MIA Jobs Fair in April of this year and has wanted a career in motorsport since her late teens. An avid follower of Formula 1 combined with a trip to Monaco cemented her focus whilst reading History at Cardiff University. She channelled her efforts into gaining as much experience as possible and spent time with Formula Student, working as part of the PR team.

Explaining why she wanted to get into motorsport, her enthusiasm is obvious, "I just love every aspect...I knew where I wanted to be and kept that focus all through my time at university - I even decided that learning German would be a benefit despite it adding to my student workload!"

We were fortunate to find her first and welcome her to the MIA team, working as a Project Assistant.

The next MIA Motorsport & Automotive Jobs Fair will take place on 4 October at the Silverstone Wing, Northamptonshire. If you are looking to recruit click here to find out more.
