Simulation of the complete race car to improve efficiency

With the introduction of motorsport regulations which limit the amount of physical testing teams can do, simulation plays a bigger role than ever in whole vehicle development. Dymola (Dynamic Modelling Laboratory) is a versatile, multi-domain, object orientated tool allowing multiple domains to be coupled together. Dymola is used in F1, IndyCar and NASCAR.

Uses of the models range from desktop simulation to trackside tools and the focus of this workshop is on the multi-domain modelling capabilities of Dymola. This enables you to define a model that includes the engine, gearbox, driveline, electrical systems, vehicle dynamics and thermal management aspects in one simulation.  We will cover the fundamental approach used in Dymola which is based on the Modelica modelling language and discuss the different application libraries that are available.  We will also cover the deployment and distribution of models so that they can be used to support decision making without requiring simulation expertise.

Digital Talk: When Cheap is Good!

THE DIGITAL REVOLUTION: how motorsport companies can improve their sales performance.

When it comes to racing you are either a winner or a loser, there is no other way around it. Same for Digital Marketing! In the era where everything is fast and immediate, the performance of the motorsport industry in digital terms is certainly not matching more mature ones. Finally! This time around we will not spend resources and money to experiment and develop for other industries but we can certainly learn a lesson or two from what did and did not work.  The Motorsport Industry is perfectly placed to take advantage of new tools and trends. In this workshop we will try to answer the three following questions:

  • What is Digital Marketing?
  • Is it relevant for Motorsport?
  • Can companies operating in Motorsport improve their Digital performance?
