MTS & MIA Members support New Master's Degree in Racing Engineering

08 Aug 2018

As co-ordinator of the new Master’s Post-Bachelor Programme in Race Engineering at the University of Pavia, Italy, I would like to share information on this unique, innovative course for 2018 and 2019.

The course in Race Engineering is one-year full-time and is open to international candidates with an Engineering Degree who are passionate about Motorsport Race Engineering and eager to study in a highly-specialized international context in Italy. All classes are taught in English.

This innovative course is focused on training highly qualified professionals with a solid background in Race Engineering. Students will acquire specialist skills in managing all aspects of the racing car and racing environment.

The training experience is highlighted by a unique collaboration between the University of Pavia and ASC (Automotive Safety Centre), MTS (Motorsport Technical School), VI-Grade and SkyDrive.

Students will spend 11 days at a race track, from the initial encounter with the race car to full technical management of the vehicle, and will experience a Formula Tatuus Abarth car driven by a professional driver.

They will be trained, in this unique experience and education, by a professional, experienced international race engineer, and refine their competence via an intensive teaching module on both static and dynamic driving simulators for the joint training of the driver and the engineer.

The duration of the Master course of one year has a timetable of, at least, 1500 hours (60 ECTS) including:

- lectures and lessons at the University of Pavia – Palace Vistarino venue and also at ASC, the Quattroruote Automotive Safety Centre, at Vairano – Vidigulfo (PV)

- practical sessions at ASC and at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza (Monza Circuit)

- guided tours of plants and facilities operating in the automotive and racing sector, seminars, workshops, didactic activities and individual preparation

The course also includes an internship offered by the companies who partner of the program.

On successful completion, the students will be awarded an official, professional Master Degree (First Level Master) in Race Engineering by the University of Pavia.

Applications are now open as the Course start date is October 22nd 2018
