World Rallycross Speedmachine- a winning new kid on the motorsport block?
01 Jun 2018
Well worth a read is Gemma Hatton's compelling World Rallycross Speedmachine article in the blog section of Racecar Engineering's digital magazine.
Deputy editor of Racecar Engineering, Gemma details the challenges facing promoters and organisers of motorsports events, namely how to improve the entertainment value of motorsport and boost fans’ interest.
Fuelling interest - off and on the track
Gemma’s report on the Speedmachine Festival at Silverstone (25 - 27 May 2018) gives us a real flavour of the whole event. We hear how fans can enjoy the racing and mingle in the open paddock with access to the mechanics and drivers whilst savouring the buzz around Silverstone, heightened by trackside entertainment - fireworks and music delighting everyone.
As Gemma quite rightly states, “We cannot continue to satisfy the needs of the ‘dinosaur’ fans in our sport” and that there’s adequate space to satisfy every audience. She succinctly summarises that “the world is changing, the behaviour and needs of the younger generation are changing and if we want our Sport to survive, then so must we.”
